Chelsea designs Change projects across all media platforms and is especially adept in developing overall graphic schemes that make brands actually look and feel like brands. She also has a lot to say about strategy. Born and raised in Northern Michigan, her love for the environment grew from playing in the beautiful outdoors there.
Prior to The Change, Chelsea created designs for a range of mission-driven companies, including Greenbusiness.net, Brewing Hope, and Food For Thought. She has also worked in publishing as the senior graphic designer at Common Ground Magazine. Motivated by faith, she believes design has the power to raise consciousness, educate, and make changes in our society. And she became a designer to do just that.
She is a co-founder of Furhaha Children, developed to support The Kilimanjaro Joy Foundation orphanage in Tanzania, and sits on the board of On The Ground, a non-profit bringing water, education, and healthcare to fair trade coffee regions around the world. Chelsea has also met with farmers and activists on Fair Trade delegations to East Timor, Palestine and Mexico. We are a collective of designers ranging from those who design educational curriculum to those who design wastewater treatment systems. 1) Building Community Locally: We enhance community resilience by networking fantastic educators and students of all ages together.
2) Energy & Environmental Analysis: We engage in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions monitoring and planning as well as sustainability audits allowing a quantitative perspective on complex behavior.
3) Ecological Engineering & Design: We specialize in water systems; we think stormwater infiltration is the cat's pajamas and that wastewater has important and useful nutrients.
Our favorite work involves bringing these realms together and convening participatory processes that develop strategies for change with measurable outcomes.
